Out of Focus Alva 1990, ? minutes Current Rating: 3 out of 5 stars Out of Focus is a video from the 1990 with Alva alums: Dave Duncan, John Gibson, Eddie Reategui, Craig Johnson, Mario Rubulcaba and more. It mostly contains random contest, pool and ditch footage with a sprinkling of street from some of the amateurs all lumped into one big greasy, sludgy pile. April 17, 2006 What ever happened to skate pros that may have only been in their late teen's/early 20's but looked like frizzled haggard old dudes? I mean, 2 ft. long dreads and skating half pipes in a leather jacket, all TNT without the borrowed contrivance of it all. Authentic 80's old school rippers doing what they do best: Drinking, carving and bro-ing down with their hommies. Still, Out of Focus is great for the history but not so much for getting pumped up. I'll be honest, I'm glad I have it now but back in the day the only thing I cared about was Eric Murphy and the Chicago footage because it's the only stuff that even closely resembled any of the new school skating that was taking off. Let's just say this video represents the growing gap in generations as skating was re-inventing itself during those turbulent 90's. No-Comply
