SkateNation is one of Danny Minnick's several productions that showcases various street and vert skaters who are both known and unknown. The video mainly follows a montage format but is not limited to it. It also includes a Ben and Tas Pappas vert section, a rather lengthy Ghetto Child ad dedicated to Tom Penny, a short Burnside montage, and a segment dedicated to the Seattle skate scene. Pretty much has something for everyone, from ramps to handrails.

Maybe I totally missed the point, but the guy talking at the beginning of the tape said I was watching a visual documentation of the life and times of the skate nation. All I saw was something that looked like a crappy video magazine. I don't mean to diss Danny but this video looked like it was thrown together in a couple hours. In the midst of commercials, recycled footage, and another angle of tony hawk's 900, I was left disappointed. It looked like a winner too, I mean it has Jeron Wilson on the cover. Don't get me wrong, there are a few good tricks here and there, but the video as a whole is a steaming pile. If you want to see good street skating from 1999, watch something like The Reason or Chocolate Tour. If you like Tas Pappas or are from Seattle, then please check out this video.
