NSA 86' Vol. 1 Unreel Productions 1986, 60 minutes Current Rating: 4 out of 5 stars NSA Volume 1 is a contest video from 1986 when vert skating was king, method airs and hand plants were standard procedure, and landing a McTwist was enough to get you laid. The video features some of the biggest names from back in the day ranging from the popular Bones Brigade, to Gator, to the high soaring Asians, Lester Kasai and Christian Hosoi. The contest begins with a series of elimination rounds and ends with final runs from each skater. In between pro heats are a few amateur highlights and the occasional interview with a neon clad fan. January 25, 2005 It's fucked up how much has changed in 20 years. The vert skating in NSA Volume 1 is legendary to an aging asshole like me, but probably a monotonous snoozer to today's young skaters. More than anything, this video is a fine showcase for vert skating at its pinnacle in the mid 80s. If you really want an indication of how Tony Hawk dominated skating 20 years ago, find this video and you'll see how he was one of the few that could land a McTwist.
