Yeah Right!
Girl
2003, 72 minutes
Current Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars

Yeah Right! could be defined as the Girl/Choco familiesí most ambitious venture to date. The video clocks in at a solid 72 minutes with lengthy parts, montages and cinematic skits that only Spike Jones could mastermind. The old crew (York, Carroll, etc.) is present as well as some new additions to the squad (Marc Johnson, Brian Anderson, and Kenny Anderson) that are well established in their own right.

Yeah Right! is less of a skateboarding film and more of a cinematic experience. The presentation (production wise) is so incredible that one wonders why it hasn't won an award at some hip film festival like Canne. In contemplating my approach to reviewing this latest offering from the Girl/Chocolate family, I quickly realized that any standard opinion orientated essay would be futile. In fact, it would be easy for any graduate student to write a dissertation on this video and its relevance to youth culture as a whole.

Slanty Slits March 14, 2004

Yeah Right! blew so many minds that it's still being watched and talked about well beyond it's release. There is no question that the Girl and Chocolate teams have the skills to pay the billz, but what takes this video to the next level is the creative genius of Ty Evans and Spike Jonze. Every detail of Yeah Right! from the skating, filming and editing is ridiculously great. Even the music has become the most widely sought after sound track in skateboarding. After watching, I not only had the urge to skate but also to go out and film my friends. Very few videos can get your fat, cottage cheese ass off the couch to think about and celebrate skateboarding like Yeah Right! can.
