Current Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Untitled is Birdhouse Projects’ second offering in the "low budget" video genre. This hard-to-find gem represents Birdhouse in its infancy; so don't expect any explosions or porn stars in this one. What you'll find is a raw and unpolished glimpse into early 90's street skating with an indie soundtrack to boot.

As skateboarding began to evolve into a street orientated art form, videos began to take on a home video feel. Untitled is no exception. The first segment contains a split part between vert champions Tony Hawk and Mike Frasier. While Frasier seems to focus on intricate lip trick variations, Hawk demonstrates the results of his first exploration into modern vert skating. Gone are the McTwists and 720's previously associated with Hawk's skating. Instead, he offers up several flip trick variations in addition to some awkward street footage. While Willy Santos, Matt Beach and a young Andrew Reynolds also contribute solid, line orientated street parts, Ocean Howell manages to set himself apart by providing the most mature segment in this style. He demonstrates a slew of smooth lines that are free of the awkward landings and lack of speed commonly associated with this time period in skateboarding. Of course, Jeremy Klein makes the biggest statement in Untitled with his patented stunt orientated style. This part solidifies his place in skateboarding’s history as a true pioneer. All in all, if you can find it, Untitled is a good watch.
