Duty Now for the Future
Foundation
1997, 20 minutes
Current Rating: 3 out of 5 stars

When this video came out in 1997, Foundation had just experienced a situation similar to Toy Machine, where nearly all of their riders quit at the same time. Daniel Haney, Brad Staba, and Jon West were all virtually unknown before hopping aboard the momentarily wounded Foundation and releasing this video. As the title suggests, these young amateurs were all being primed by the Super Co. for an eventual jump up to the professional ranks. DNFTF highlights these modern skateboarding stars' street skills during their "coming up" period.

This video can be described in three words: handrails, handrails, handrails. There are handrails of every shape and size getting punished by this tumultuous threesome; long, short, flat, steep, tall, straight, curved, round, square, and quintuple kinked. All three are superb at risking their family jewels with that elegantly simple, solid style of skateboarding that Foundation has become known for. Also, the soundtrack is very groovy and fits the skating well. However, fellow mutants like myself will be disappointed that although this video shares its title with an old Devo album, only one Devo track was actually used and it was just a sound bite at the very end.
